It is beautiful how intricate our inner selves can be. We can find threads of memories, upbringing, and beliefs woven together, in a place that is comforting yet confining. Sometimes we can find ourselves caught between the quiet hum of routine and echoes of desires unfulfilled, yearning to do so much more than what we are doing.
If time could stop and nothing were to hold us back, we would do everything and anything.
Dreaming to go towards our desires, but stopping ourselves from moving forward.
We want to take that next step, but right when we do, there is that subtle voice that stops us from doing so. We start to feel torn and then begins that tug-of-war between yearning and frustration. We may start to put ourselves down and decide to give up on our desires.
We end up going back to our lackluster routine, confused, because we start to question purpose, meaning, and possibility. We go through a cycle that feels never-ending. But, what if we could stop before we became our own worst enemy? When that subtle voice comes to whisper and takes form in our mind, could we decide to extend an olive branch to that part of us?
The part of us that only wants to protect us and this is the only way it knows how in this tumultuous world, shielding us as leaves on a tree.
Could we start to look within, with a new dawn, opening an eye, and extending peace to the part of ourselves doing its best? Perhaps, we might allow ourselves to step forth from our comfort zones. Maybe, we can even heal from the memories, beliefs, and upbringing that led us to the quiet hum of routine and unfulfilled desires.
